There are numerouslegends which survive in Cetara and they are near all linked to sea world. Sea has a leading role both when with waves that break on the rocks suggests not to disturb natural and supernatural beings which live in it (there are numerous legends which have as main actors devils and spirits which live in grottos) and when it offers its products which become the subject of story tales with intricated plots. Sea and fishermen world with their superstitions and believings is populated by legendary janare who reach these places flying and they feed themselves with anchovies and nuts which belong to unaware farmers.
